Who We Are | ONE

ONE works with regional and national partners to co-create, develop and deliver transformational projects and enhance the entrepreneurial environment in the region’s key sectors of digital tech; food, drink, and agriculture; life sciences and tourism.

Through ONE, the private sector shapes the region’s future low-carbon economy and creates high-skill, high-value jobs.

More than 80 members drawn from the region's business community, its two universities and colleges, and regional and national partners sit on the ONE main and sector boards. Their collective experience, insights and connections shape action and delivery with targets set for each of the industry sectors to build on regional opportunities and contribute to national economic goals:

• Deliver transformational projects to diversify the economy and grow regional clusters.
• Build the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region, providing leadership, equipping founders with ambition and spirit, a core set of skills and capabilities, and creating a supportive environment to grow their companies and the community.
• Grow the number of active digital tech companies from 7% to 15% of the total Scottish sector by 2030 (currently 309 or 11% of the Scottish total).
• Grow the food, drink, and agriculture sector by 5% per annum (real growth) by leading in low-carbon food production, advanced digital automated manufacturing and premium market development.
• Double the number of life science companies in the North east by 2030. Provide a unique ecosystem for the sector with critical infrastructure, a network of experts, entrepreneurial education and mentoring for start-up, spin-out, growth and commercial stage businesses.
• Maximise the region's natural capital to develop the adventure and food tourism market opportunities and grow a sustainable visitor economy.

ONE has a 10-year £64 million funding commitment from The Wood Foundation and uses its resources to secure match funding to deliver new projects – turning opportunity and ambition into action and investment. ONE has led £150 million of investment in the region's growth sectors, working with public, private and philanthropic funding and delivery partners.
