Aberdeen-based business secures additional £50,000 after impressing judges in final between four Regional EDGE winners
Aqura Systems, an Aberdeen-based technology company developing an autonomous AI-driven microorganism identification system, has been named the winner of the prestigious Regional EDGE Winner of Winners (WOW) Award. Supported by Royal Bank of Scotland, the accolade brings an additional £50,000 in funding after Aqura competed against three fellow regional champions from across Scotland.
This latest award brings Aqura Systems’ total Scottish EDGE funding to £100,000. The company’s innovative solution is designed to generate alerts and predictive insights for toxic algal blooms, supporting the fish and shellfish farming industries.
Founder Chris Hyde received the award at a Scottish EDGE alumni event and commented:
“I am delighted to have won the Winner of Winners for Aqura. This additional EDGE award is going to make a huge difference to our product development and launch this year. All of us in the team are extremely excited about the future.”

“We are also incredibly grateful to Royal Bank of Scotland for its continued support. This new investment is a major vote of confidence in Scottish entrepreneurship and will help us back even more ambitious founders across Scotland in the years ahead.”
